What was the factory engine color for 1979s? Blue, black? When did orange stop?

1979 engines were painted "corporate blue". The last use of Chevrolet orange was in early to mid-1977 model year. I believe the first use of "corporate black" was for the 1982 model year, although it could have been a year earlier.

Thanks, Joe, again for your quick and accurate answers. If I hadn't already seen a photo of you receiving an award I would swear you were a computer that gets fed questions and out pops the ready answers. Your participation is invaluable here.

After our discussion regarding date codes on C-3 jacks and the two character and four character date codes I have since seen three other cases of four character date codes. The first number never exceeds 9 from 0-9 or show two numbers together, the following letter never exceeds M, and the last two numbers never exceed 31. I'm researching that now by the information provided on this DB about Ausco and who might have succeeded them.
