    1967 Kelsey Hayes Bolt On's

Can someone give me an idea of what the value would be for four Kelsey Hayes bolt on wheels with 5 spinners? These were bought and used seperately from the original steel wheels. The overall condition is beter than good. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Craig Willetts

Just to clarify, are you talking about knock-off wheels with the spinners that were optional from from 1963 to 1966? The 1967 had bolt-on optional wheels, but with no spinners. 1967 had a cap that had fins, but no spinner...

      Craig,
I have seen originals advertized for more than the car cost new in 67. I have reproduction bolt on wheels for my 67 and they look fine for me. I don't have one of those $100,000 67's, just a little 300 HP all original driver.

I have seen complete, original bolt ons needing restoration go for 10k plus, up to around 20k or so for a like new set. It is crazy to me but they are pretty rare.

I wonder if the new repo's that are real close to the OEM ones will bring the prices down .

These are supposed to be original bolt on knock offs with spinners. I was told in nearly new condition. Haven't had a opportunity to see yet but the price is $7000.
            Thanks for the help.

              Craig,

Knock offs were 64-66 with spinners, but they were true knock off wheels (i.e. they did not bolt on). Bolt ons were a 67 only wheel and did not have spinners. They had "starbursts" i the center. I think 7k is in the ball park for knock off wheels in great shape, but I would not buy them unless you know for sure what you are getting.

Then you get to wait forever to find the N-89 screwdriver.

Ken, I too have wondered the same thing but prices for real BO wheels just seem to be going up. I know of 4 sets that have sold recently. The first set was in horrible condition and they sold for 9K for 5 wheels and center caps. The second set sold for 12K and that was for 4 wheels and center caps and they needed to be restored. The other two sets of 5 wheels and center caps sold for 19 and 20K but were in perfect condition.
                    Regards,

Speaking of the screwdriver - in terms of judging, how's that Long Island Corvette repro work that they used to offer? I understand that the manufacturer no longer makes it and LI does not sell them anymore...

Jeff, LIC advertised them as being made from the original tooling. I bought one from them several years ago for $50.00 and it was identical to the one in Noland's book with the red/natural fluted wood handle. I later sold it after the wheels went to an NCRS member in Canada. You can watch eBay for one but be prepared to pay. Good luck. Jim

Guys I just spoke with the seller and he stated these are four bolt on wheels with five star burst that were purchased in early 1970 from a GM dealer. These are supposed to be Kelsey Hayes original 67 wheels. My next question is shouild the wheels be Kelsey Hayes marked and dated coded like the earlier ones or is it marked differently? Thanks for all the help.

By the way he also has a set of original 7.75 red lines still on these. Three of the four will hold air. He claims to have two sets of never mounted 6.70 WW tires for a C1. Any idea on the values of these?

                            Thanks all,
                            Craig

Probably as close as you're going to find without a home equity loan, and I know the seller to boot!
