C3 - 72 -Seat back release button replacement
Do I need to remove the entire release mechanism from the seat to replace the release button? If yes - can this be done without removing the seat cover? Thanks!

You should not have to remove the seat covers, but the screw is installed from the front side of the seat, to the rear into the button. Take the fiberglass seat back off, there should be a screw holding the two "flaps" of the cover together.
Its also best to remove the seat from the car IMO.
