Exhaust grounding straps on a '62?

Should I have exhaust grounding straps on my '62? A friend with a '56 says he thinks I should?
If yes, can someone post some pics and give some details as to number and location.

    Thanks,

    Paul

Page B192 (Section 102, sheet 4) of the AIM has a very good picture of these.

    Good luck

      Hi John,
I have the 1962 AIM, and when I look at B192 it refers to the diff., but shows no reference to the exhaust?
I have a detailed view of the exhaust on page B90, but I see nothing referring to grounding straps?

      Thanks,

      Paul

Depends if your car had the radio option... If not then there should not be any ground strap between the exhaust and the frame...

as Rob stated...Grounding straps are part of the radio option...Including the Static collectors in the wheels, capacitors and ignition shields. Ground straps are also located on the antenna, the engine mounting brackets, the accelerator lever to left intake manifold bolt ( 58-60, the "rounded corners" end were down against the intake manifold and the square end against the accelerator lever. Starting 6/9/1960 VIN108200, the ground starp was reversed.)

Page B-200 in my AIM, look for sect 102 page 4.00, as the page numbering at the top of the page is different from different sources, The page ID in the lower block is the GM ID.

OK thanks, now I've found sect 102, it's on page B153 in my AIM.
I have ground straps on the engine mount, accelerator arm, and antenna, but none on the exhaust. Should there be just one for the entire exhaust system, or one per side?
I will also need the capacitors for the gen, regulator, and coil. I don't think they are reproduced, does anyone sell originals, what are they worth?

              Thanks,
              Paul

Search for part of EngineHunter on e-Bay for the capacitors. He might have some for sale.

Since the exhausts are only electrically linked via the engine (if no gaskets are applied) and the purpose of the groundstrap is to provide an additional ground link to avoid statics, both exhausts will need a ground strap...

                greetings,
