    1964 turn signal fasher

My 64 Coupe has a signal stat 145 flasher which is rated for 3 lamp operation. This differs from my old 63 Coupe which had 1034 lamps and a 143 flasher. My understanding is that 64 model year went over to the 1157 lamps thus requiring a new flasher unit also. I checked the archives and they seem to support the 1157/145 combo. The new JG unfortunately still has the 143 and 145 usage reversed for 64 models, but this should be an easy fix next time around. Any thoughts? Thanks,
    Dan

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

    Dan,
I will have to check my old judging manual on the flasher but you are correct in that it makes a difference which bulbs are in the light sockets, 1034 or 1157. After I changed my 63 to the correct 1034 bulbs the flaster rate slowed down and seems much more correct to me.

      Re: 1964 turn signal fasher

My old 1980 parts book does appear to shed some light on the proper flasher numbers. 63 uses either an signal stat 143 or tungsol AP373V, both of which are correct in the JG. (1034 bulbs)
64 with back up lamps is listed as Tung Sol 224
64 without back up lamps (3 bulb) is either Signal Stat 145 or Tung Sol 323. (these are from parts book)
For 64 JG correctly lists the Tung Sol 224 for back up lights, but lists also the 145 which is for 3 bulb non back up light use. Then it list the 'without backup lights' as a AP373V and the Signal Stat 143, both of which are for the earlier 1034 bulbs (1963) usage. I believe the parts book applications sound alot more logical, any of you old timers with the super original cars have corresponding flashers to the ones above? Let me know, then I'll forward the results to Carlton for future revision/ errata sheet for the 63/64 Manual. Thanks for help,
      Dan
