    1972 Door - Interior

Looking at the enclosed picture, should the upper left side of this door be painted black or should it be body color? I would think black especially the part that shows outside of the door panel.
    Thanks for the help.

      Jeff,

      Black.

Eastwood's underhood paint is good, else Krylon semi-flat.

See pic below, if it uploads today...

And, the factory original blackout paint coverage was just as sloppy and irregular as the picture you posted with reasonable deviations in coverage from car to car coming down the line!

Could someone please tell me if the door jamb blackout goes all the way down the jamb and fades to car color under the front of the door, fades to car color somewhere in the middle of the door jamb, or is taped off and ends abrubtly someplace in the middle of the jamb ?

It wouldn't let me load because it is the picture at the beginning of this thread. It is black up to the weatherstrip. It does not go past that

                  Jeff,
I know the blackout only goes up to the weatherstrip running down the jamb, but does the blackout go all the way down the door ? From the looks of yours in the picture, it does. Is that original from the factory ?

Mine does not go underneath, it goes down to the edge and that is it. Yes mine is original

                        Doug,

I just went out and looked at both doors on both '71's, they are both original paint cars. The black out treatment is only on the forward section of the doors, the black DOES not run the perimeter of the doors. It starts at the top near the forward window corner (when window is up) and runs down to the bottom hinge and stops. As Jack Humphrey stated above it is not evenly sprayed and the black does not necessarily go to the weatherstrip edge as it travels down the forward jam to the bottom hinge.

I have to recommend SEM Trim Black in the rattle can. I sprayed mine with it and it turned out just as I would hope (maybe too good). Dries evenly and very fast. Nice finish.

BTW, consistent with other "threaders" here, I don't see why the blackout would run under the door. It was sprayed to hide the body-color gap between the door panel and instrument panel/kick panel. Was needed beacuse of the lousy fits...

                              Don,
I knew that it did NOT run under the door , but I was curious as to how far down the jamb it went.
