    Tom,

Try the linear display mode. I personally find it easier to use...

Someone is holding back information on this. Perhaps to temper the outrage. There has to be more to the story....

        Rob,

Thanks for the hint that formats the discussion board wherre it is easier for me to follow.

        MIke,

I know we were both on the board of directors when the museum was conceived in fact you might have been president either when it happenend or just shortly there after. I believe the originanl article of incorporation for the NCM called it the NCRS Foundation - did it not? The original concept and mission has long since been abandoned and forgotten and that was not neccessarily by the current managment of the museum. In my opinion Wendell Storode has done a remarkable job given the situations he inherited. With that said it appears the real direction of the museum is starting to emerge.

NCM founding and lifetime member, but I bleed NCRS .

I am also a founding member # 1049 with Zora's auto. on the paper. In my opinion it has turnd into a shill for GM to sell new Corvettes. When has any of the OME's give a crap about you once you buy the car. Too bad but now it's about the money. I know you,Terry & other NCRS members helped get it off the ground. I will call & let them know whit I think.TOO BAD

I eagerly await the results of Vito's discussion with Wendell Strode, assuming that he is able to speak with him, regarding the fate of the NCRS display. I'm glad that I took some pix of the display during our visit last October.

I would like to know what percent of the NCM members also belong to NCRS and NCCC. This action if it happens will not be good for the hobby.

You might start this off with a poll, although that will only get responses from TBD "posters." Our local Corvette club has numerous members who are NCM members but not NCRS members as they are principally C5 & C6 owners.

I had some corespondence with the NCM today and my opinion is that from a marketing standpoint they are addressing the larger market based on demographics such as age, income, etc.
My conclusion is that the C5-C6 people are the future of the NCM, therefore events, programs etc will target that group.
I love the new Corvettes but C1 runs in my blood.

I guess I should call them and tell them I just turned 36 years old this month, and I have a 1970 Corvette....... not a 1997+

I love the new Corvettes, I love the old Corvettes.

Isn't it the "National Corvette Museum"? Not the "National C5/C6 Museum"?

Really, I have no issues with them marketing more to the newer buyers if that's what their studies are telling them... but I don't see who that means "eliminate the NCRS and NCCC displays".

If I tour the Museum again, will I see only C5's and C6's on display?

And for that matter, when do they cut out the C5 people as being a dying crowd?

been lurking / reading this thread and had to throw my $.02 centavos into the mix

FACT - NCRS did help found / initially staff the NCM
FACT - events have been held for years to get the C1 - C6 owners to visit the NCM
FACT - there are a number of different registries that hold events at the NCM
FACT - many (wanted to say MOST) C1-C4 owners DO NOT visit the NCM with THEIR cars - that is what the NCM wants to see - your support by driving your cars to the events

SOLUTION - all of those folks who are now becoming naysayers of the NCM - what have you done for them lately!? I am as guilty as those I am calling out - when was the last time you visited with your car!? Get your ASS to the NCM! Join the National 2009 Caravan to the NCM and show that NCRS does still care - I'm signed up and will drive my 1963 Z06 there with a caravan from Baltimore area

I planned on driving up, I have the paper work in front of me as we speak! but at this point I am going to wait and see what happens with Vito's meeting. If we can get this thing corrected then I will go, if not I won't ..This deal is a cut and dried for me, the NCM DROPS THE NCRS I drop the NCM.. No geussing or threats on my part, a done deal. But lets see what Vito comes back with first.

                            Tom,

have you and others who are incensed about the NCM read the post entitled NCM RESPONSE that Dick Capello posted - very enlightening answer by Wendell Strode - I personally am waiting to see what Roy Sinor posts, as Wendell did say he sent an email to Roy

BOTTOM LINE - all exhibits that are currently in place as we know them will be closed permanently - doesn't mean they are not coming back, but what it does mean, CONSTRUCTION is the reason for the closings and having to relocate because of the CONSTRUCTION - what will the new NCRS display look like - who knows!?

SOLUTION - make sure we here at NCRS have a hand in getting the NEW display established like we think it should be - that is the message I would hope Vito is taking to Wendell when he talks to him

great post rick. the NCM needs ALL corvette owners support. it is the only corvette only museum in the world as far as i know. GM gives all new corvette owners a free 1 year membership with the hope that the NCM will do its parts and get these owners to sign back up. it must work as the NCM now has 28,000 members.

Rick et all, yes I received an email from Wendell Strode and he indicated I could post it on this board if I wished. I chose not to, and I explained that to Wendell in a reply email, Wendell is a member of NCRS and can post here as he sees fit, in fact I suspect he will. Vito and Wendell will be meeting today I believe we should wait until that meeting occurs before anyone jumps to any conclusion. I believe the email I received from Wendell was quite factual except for one area, I do believe he was invited to attend the NCRS board meeting for explanation of the changes during Vito's original phone conversation with him earlier this week.
