    C-3, sunvisor starting instructions label

Does anyone reproduce those starting instruction labels that are attached on one visor of the pairs of sunvisors? What year did GM start using those starting instruction labels in Corvettes? So far all I've seen are the original sunvisors with the labels attached.

    Thanks,
    Scott

1972 was the first year for the "starting instructions" label on the driver side sunvisor. I believe the first ones were a "stick-on" type label; later, a cardboard "sleeve" type was used. Dr. Rebuild carries some of these labels.

Interesting topic. My research indicates that the nylon "Engine Starting Procedure" visor label was introduced as an engineering change after model year 1972 SOP. Label (GM part number 327568) itself is dated 11-23-71. JG specifies that label appeared on cars delivered after 1-1-72. Difficult for me to confirm exactly how this was rolled out, since the AIM (page M84) shows "dwg revised on 8-24-71", clearly after '72 SOP. Mine is an early '72 (August '71), and has no label. As for availability, NPD stocks the label. I cannot comment on accuracy. Hope this helps.

The picture of this label in their downloadable catalog is not very large.
        However, it "looks" very close.

I think I may purchase one just for investigational purposes. None of the usual Corvette vendors carry this label. The most interesting thing will be whether or not they have used the correct material.

Re: C-3, sunvisor starting instructions label

I saw it at the NPD counter not too long ago. It was indeed a fabric-based white label, seeming to be about the same size as original, however, not having an original on my car, I could only compare to others I've seen from memory. What would be helpful is to know is what, if anything was on pre-11-23-71 cars. Paper sleeve?

Hmm. Didn't know they had a MI location. I think I'll be visiting...

My June 72 doesn't have one, but it may just be MIA.
I've tried to upload a scan of an original, but it's not working. I do not think that pre-January cars had any kind of notice on the visor.

              Patrick,
If you recall that mid production 72 #12293 had one. Do you recall the loose one I sent to you a while back. It was the style without the date and a different part number.

Got one with my '72 that was built in early Feb. No date on it and the part no. is 6263563. As in previous descriptions it is printed on a white nylon fabric. Bought the car a few years back and had a lot of its original paperwork/documentation - never had reason to doubt its authenticity. Hope this helps.

Yes, that's the one I'm trying to post. The DB is having a brain fart when I try and post it.

                  I'll try again...nope.
                  I'll just link it in.

Re: C-3, sunvisor starting instructions label

Scott, I have a '73 which uses the 327568 label which is made out of a fiberglass material. I believe this fiberglass material is unique to '72 & '73 models. The reproduction label will be made out of paper (you should double check this before going the repro route). I got lucky and discovered the same label was used on the Monte Carlo (see photo) and thus saved a fortune. It might have been used throughout the entire GM line for '72 & '73. The '74 label is different and made out of paper. Hope this helps.

My late March 72 has the cloth label on sun visor. The car is not available so I can't check part # and date. My mind seems to remember a date, but its too old to be trusted.

The label on my June '74 car is a woven cloth-like material. Not sure about the part #, but I think it does have a date on it. I'd need to go dig it out of storage...

The 1973 starting instruction label has a P/N of 327568 with a date of 11-23-71. It is printed on a woven fabric.

The 1970-72 judging guide lists the part number, date, etc. It also mentions another part number with no date found on one car. It was not verified as oriiginal. We have seen attempts at reproduction, but the material is never right. I have seen the same label on 1973s.
