What to do with old parts

I just changed out to a new wiper door vacuum actuator for my '68. The one on my vehicle had the wrong size shaft and the shaft was broken off on the end. Generally, it worked OK, but not great. My inclination (but not sure why) is to keep the old actuator. Should I just toss it out or do you think it has some value to someone. The plating is all worn off as well. Thanks for your opinions.

Either save it or sell it. Nothing gets thrown out.

If more people kept their old parts they could then compare it with the repro's and not waste money getting poor repro parts or help others by showing them the differences,

Never throw out or even sell old org. parts. Always welcomed by educated buyers as part of the history of your car. This is 30-50 yr old stuff. Like good land they ain't makin' it anymore.

OK. I'll save it. Occupying yet a little more of my basement storage space. Thanks for the advice. Sorry for not responding sooner but I had to resolve some computer issues.

You can donate it to The Classic Corvettes Parts Museum:

            c/o: Joe Ciaravino (32899)

It's a very nice tax write-off. And, don't forget, you'll be helping those who enjoy looking at old Corvette parts.
