    C1 Steering Box Adjustment

    Hi all,

I'd like to eliminate the play in my steering wheel (1960) and would like to adjust the steering box, both the large knob and locking nut at the end and the screw and locking nut on the side. Does anyone have a simple method for this without taking the steering loose or that doesn't involve using the little spring scale?

    Thanks,

    Bob

For me I tighten the large end nut to take all end play out, then with the wheels off the ground adjust the the side pre-load so I get just a little resistance in the steering wheel at center position.
Been that way now for 30 years , no problem and steers good with no play.
