Has anyone had success buffing out scratches in glass? Some of the glass in my car has swirl type scratches which are a bit annoying but may not be enough to justify replacement but may be worth buffing out if there are products on the market that yield good results.

Re: Scratched Glass
Hi Nick,
I've used a product called Rhodite. It works well for light haze and scratches. You must be very carefull when using it due to heating the glass(friction). The glass on our 63 had some scratches from a drunken sander which came out pretty good.
Eastwood sells it:

Re: Scratched Glass
Nick, I just finished polishing the windshield on my 66. It looked like the former owner had run the wipers dry in a dust storm. The marks were shallow but very visible. I have an old Eastwood kit that is nothing more than cerium oxide powder and a 2 inch hard cotton cylinder on a 1/4 inch drill shaft. It took about two hours to do and all of the marks came out. Just be careful to keep the slurry wet and occasionally add some water so as no to generate heat. Cover anything you don't want to get covered with slurry. This system will not take out any deep scratches.- Top

Re: Scratched Glass
Years ago I bought a glass polishing kit from Sommer & Meca -- a supplier to the glass industry. It has the felt buff and cerium oxide powder. I've used it to take scratches out of the side glass of my '70, and also used it on the back window. The side glass scratches were deep. It took a long time, but they came out just fine.
There should be several posts from me on this subject in the archives.Terry- Top

Scratched Glass; Glass polishing kit
Nick,
JC Witney sells a glass polishing kit consisting of the cerium oxide powder and drill polishing attachment for around $37 inc. S&H. Eastwood sells the same thing, but for a few dollars more.
