    63 Coupe SS Window Trim

I am in the process of replacing my windshield and so far have managed to remove the SS trim and the glass with no problems. It appears however that the various sized clips are installed in a bit of a scattered arrangement and wonder if anyone has an idea on where I can find a photo or drawing which shows the correct placement of the clips.

Also, my next project will be to replace the split wndow glass and need advice on how the SS trim is attached. Is the back side similar to the windshield trim or is it a different clip set up?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Nick,

don't have it in front of me, but should think the Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM) would have a view - also, check some the vendor web pages, as many of them have some excellent blown up pictures of various assemblies and they may have what you are looking for

The retention arrangement/clips at the rear are similar to the front.

Hi Nick if your using your old clips, try to put the SAME clip back in the same spot, I number mine and marked the body. Ive found that some clips hold better than others and if your mouldings fit nice before, they should fit nice now. The rear clips leave marks around the body where they were and there is a bunch, sometimes on orig cars Ive seen extra ones used. If your do not have a lot of experience with removing and installing mouldings DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME would be my advice esp the rear ones. Phil 8063

            Phil

I was surprised at how easy I was able to remove the front windshield trim. Are the rear trim pieces attached the same way or is the clip system different? I assume you start with one of the corner pieces. Are there any special tools required or just the usual screwdriver/putty knife combo?

Nick I just sign off the DB checked my mail and there you were, the rears are the same basicly as the fronts the danger is bending the moudings they bend easy and if you bend them they are a BIT&% to get back on. Ive seen mouding come back from beening polished and the dont fit the car, they were heat warped!! I used a moulding tool, looks like a Y shape with hooks on each end. Phil 8063

Thanks. I think I've seen the tool you are describing. Is it kind of like the claw end of a hammer or pry bar?

                  Nick -

The molding removal tool looks like this - any good auto parts store should have them for about five bucks; mine is made by K-D Tools, #2038.
