    Brake caliper part numbers

These calipers came off on my 1969 big block, but they are not the part numbers called out in the AIM. I am trying to determine the pedigree of this car , so if someone could identify these for me, I would be deeply appreiciative:
    5452270; 5452273 (Front)
    5452281; 5452284 (Rear)

    Thanks and regards..joe

Thanks Rick. Are they any different than than the original equipment, as in 1st and 2nd design? They are being replaced by SS units anyway. Is there any advantage to having them sleeved as opposed to swapping them as cores?...Thanks again...Joe

        Joe,

may have been a little fast on the trigger finger - checked another parts book and those numbers are listed as being 2nd design for 1967-72

Thanks Rick. That makes sense with my August build date. I will have these rebuilt/SS sleeved. I wonder why the AIM called out different part numbers? 1st design? What else might be out of date?

          Thanks again for your effort...Regards...Joe

            Re: Brake caliper part numbers

Couple of options -- The AIM may have the part numbers for assemblies. Once two parts are put together it becomes an assembly with a part number that is different than either of the parts separately. For C3s the part number for the assembly is almost never available for service.

Do not confuse PART numbers and CASTING numbers. The part number shown in the AIM rarely shows on the part that is installed.

The casting numbers you mentioned in your post are the correct ones used for all 1969 Corvettes. In fact, these were used from L1967 through ABOUT 1972 or early 1973.

Thanks...That makes up my mind. My goal is to get the car as close to original as feasible within functionality. I know the sleeving of the calipers isn't original, but at least the original parts are there.
