Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
What is the diameter of your front springs? Not the overall, but the wire diameter?- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
Mike, The frame looks very nice, great job! What type of paint did you use and did you sand blast the frame prior to paint? Tim- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
The driver side rear spring plate retaining bolt looks incorrect to me IF there actually is a considerable length of exposed threads. The right side rear bolt looks to be correct. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
Mike,
The chassis looks terrific!!!!
I learned from Joe L., last week, that the 4 heavy bolts that mount the rear spring to the center carrier should have a black finish. I believe he said magnesium phosphate. You can seach for a thread about "Parkerizing" from a couple of months ago. That's what the process is called.
NICE JOB!!!

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
i think it was the angle. this better? these are the original bolts that have had the rust blasted off and cleared. does the red tag look right? i bought it used. mine was pretty bad.

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
Mike -- No orange paint on the front spindles?
The half-shafts look too shiny IMO, but it might be the angle. Finish on the differential looks like it might be other than bare cast iron, but again that could be the lighting. Otherwise looks good to me.
Consider taking the chassis to an NCRS meet for more, in-person opinions. If you decide to do that, be sure to contact the meet judging chairperson first to be sure display of the chassis is OK.Terry- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
Hi Mike. I'm no expert, but the lettering on your red tag looks a little thick to me. The repo that came with my car looked like this, but I changed it after seeing several originals with the thinner lettering. I got my new one from Corvette Central, and I think it looks perfect.
Picky? Yes. But isn't that what we do?- Top

Re: 70 LT-1 frame done
Mike,
It looks great. Very nice work. I'm about six solid garage hours behind you in my '70 restoration. The only thing that jumped out at me was the finish of the control arms. It looks as though they're the same finish as the frame, although it could just be the way the pictures came out.
What's the finish of the bolts and clips for your fuel line? I can't make it out from the pictures. Thanks.- Top
