Can someone confirm that Spicer 5-785 is the appropriate replacement u-joint (permanent lube, no zerk)? If I read the archieves correctly, that crosses with GM 26015249. Thanks in advance.

Re: Replacement U-joint, C2 propeller shaft
GM #26015249 is a correct part number for the DRIVESHAFT u-joint used for 1963-67 Corvettes and all 1968-70 Corvettes with manual transmission. Unfortunately, it's discontinued and I can't find a new part number although there may be one. This u-joint was a Spicer-manufactured, lubed-for-life (no grease fittings) type u-joint. It was a VERY high quality u-joint with a body manufactured from forged powder metal which is WAY stronger than a conventional forging. However, its configuration is completely different from the style u-joints originally used on C2 and C3 Corvettes.
Spicer manufactures several series of u-joints. I believe that the 5-785 is a correct u-joint for the driveshaft application for 63-67 Corvettes. However, I'm not sure which SERIES of u-joints it represents. FUNCTIONALLY, it should work, but whether it has the other attributes you're looking for, I'm not sure.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
