Would 65 - 66 power steering pumps out of full size Chevrolets be correct in 66 Corvettes. I'm asking about the pumps not the reservoirs? Have found a few in a junk yard and wondered if one would be worth rebuilding.

Re: Mid year Power steering pumps
Yes, the pumps will be exactly the same PROVIDING that they are from pre-67 applications. I'm not sure if 67 and later pumps will interchange with 66 and earlier reservoirs, though. But, I'm sure that 64-66 pumps will work with a 1966 reservoir. As an assembly with reservoir, the 67 and later pumps will work for 64-66.
One way that the pre 67 pumps differed from the earlier was the size of the shaft and seal. However, I think that it's also possible that there was some other difference between the body of the pumps. I do know that the 64-66 reservoir, GM #5692845, was discontinued without supercession in July, 1978 while the 67-74 reservoirs were superceded to GM #7826727 and available until 2002.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Mid year Power steering pumps
My 68 overhaul manual shows a flow restrictor for my 68 corvette pump vs passenger car (as I recall). I have seen people interchange pumps though. Just an observation when I was rebuilding my 68 pump. Terry- Top
