C3 Carpet overlap with firewall insulator

Does the top edge of the front carpet overlap the firewall insulator or is it fitted underneath the bottom edge of the firewall insulator? Do the rubber fastners retain both the carpet and the insulator or just the insulator?

Thanks for your help! Richard Udd

I fitted the carpet under the plastic insulator and then used the rubber plugs to hold the insulator inn place. I am not sure it is correct but it seemed like the logical way to put it together. I could not find a carpet reference in the AIM.

The carpet is fitted under the front lip. The plugs go through what ever is behind it in that location.

In a June '72 car, the carpet goes over the rubber insulator. The insulator is cut out where the plugs fasten. Top edge of carpet is unfinished. Jim

I'm not sure what year he is working on as my information was for a 73.

Sorry, should have reported that this is for a '69.
