    C2 Parts Supplier

After going through my first round of judging, I have a laundry list of parts that I need to avoid future point loss. Items such as nuts and bolts, harness clips, headlight switch, cigarette lighter, turn signal shield, bent tab lock washers, antenna, etc. From a NCRS judging standpoint, is there one vendor that stands out for supplying close copy quality reproductions?

Anyone heard of Doc Rebuild? How is Corvettes of MD, or LI Corvette Supply?

    thanks for the help!

Lots of opinions here - I will give mine. I have found LI to be good on most 65 parts that I have purchased - they can be a bit *****ly to deal with over the phone, so fax or website is best. I think that Par***n is only middle of the road on NCRS stuff (depends on the part - just got some nice kick panel screws from them), but good service and support over the phone. Typically these guys all get the parts from the same manufacturers and some parts are better repos than others. I like to evaluate each part I purchase from various sources to see who has the most accurate - the photos on the website help if they have them. I think LI website is much improved over the part years. In the end most repo parts have some differences from the real ones. Ebay is a source for original stuff.

Do some research on each supplier, especially at a parts level as some of them have better parts in a particular area. Such as seat covers or door panels, etc.

Also, when you speak with them, tell them the part is for a car that will be judged for a top flight or gold. I have found them to be more careful in selecting the part they send.

            Rob

if you are looking for conversation don't call LI but if you want the best parts do call LI. I bought a 67 parking brake handle from DR and it looked like a rotten banana and it was murder to return.

Finding the right parts can be frustrating and time-consuming. It's too bad we don't have parts having an NCRS Seal of Approval, like GM Restoration Parts have the approval of GM. This would bring the part quality level up and remove the trial-and-error.

Funny you say that, back in about 1995 I purchased a fan blade for my 1966 that came slightly bent, Dr. Rebuild gave me all kinds of trouble to return it. I have since then been a long time customer of Long Island Corvette Supply and must say I am very happy, they almost always have the parts in stock, they are very knowledgeable and never hassle me about a return, great people to do business with!

like Rob said in his original post, opinions are like ........; we all have had our good and bad experiences with vendors - personally, I have bought parts from every vendor I posted in the list - I have returned parts to every vendor I posted

is there a favorite of mine - probably Dr Rebuild, as I have found I can call on MY DIME and have found Geoffrey more than accomodating to talk to about what I was really needing - now, of course I was restoring a 1963 Z06 and some of the parts I needed were like finding a needle in a haystack - now, when I called his order line, if I didn't spit out exactly what I wanted, then yes I found Geoffrey at times "crusty around the edges"

I have been using LI for a long time...never have clled them. I always fax my order and they are always complete with high quality parts. I understand that you can now order on line...may be a great option. I have also had success with corvette central.

                        Good Luck
