    C2 (1966) Interior locks....

Can anyone clarify if there was more than one version of interior door lock control on mid-year cars? My 64 has a different (reversed) lock control on the driver's vs passenger side of the car. My 66 (coupe) has the same one on both sides. I'm confused, as Ecklers sells only one design (part #37770).
The second problem is on my 66, as the shaft seems to be too short on the driver's side and I can barely get the knob on the shaft, whereas on the pass. side the knob sticks out too far from the door panel (as if the shaft is too long) and it doesnt look right (maybe a problem with the door panel and I havent removed it yet to check the panel thickness?).
I'm just wondering if any of you have come up against this problem or have suggestions. Thanks in advance.

    Hi Larry,
The only difference that I am aware of of the lock mechanism is that the 1967 has a feature that prevents you from unlocking the inside door if the lock knob is in the lock position. You have to manually turn the inside lock knob to the unlock position before you can unlock the door from the inside unlike the 1963-66 doors that could be unlocked from the inside regardless of the lock knob position.
When you remove the door panel you will see that the lock part that comes thru the door panel is mounted on the inside of the door fiberglass.
You could put a couple of washer between the lock and the inside door to move it outboard. There is also some verticle adjustment if you need it and you can make some front to back adjustment with a small round file to center it up in the door panel hole.
    Regards,

Do you mean the inside door remote opening control, or the inside lock control?

If it's the remote opening control, '64 and '65 used the same ones (3797389-90 LH/RH), and '66 and '67 used the same ones (3880169-70 LH/RH). Don't know offhand what the difference is between the '64-'65 part and the '66-'67 part.
