Gerald, the gentlemen that helped re-write the carpet section have original carpet cars. And that is about all I know about the manual

On a 63 the seat rests on brackets that make the seat frame adjustable up and down. There is no seat RAIL that rests on the carpet, only the seat mounting brackets touch the carpet.Bob

Bob, saying that, as I recall the carpet is not cut. The bolts go through the carpet thus making a single hole at each bolt point.

Bob, agree that 63 front and rear height adjusting brackets, even in lowest position, leave the 63 seat track above the carpet. I just quoted the new TIM&JG for what it says ... carpet overlaps tracks, whatever they mean by that.

Actually I can see that the cuts are done such that the outer carpet strips lay flat on the floor below the seat track starting just behind the front bracket (inner carpet flap covers the front bolt head), continues under the rail and then by way of a 3 by 3 square cut exposes the rear plate and U bracket mounted to the floor, cut heads inboard from there behind the seat. Maybe what they wrote was meant to reference that the front and rear BRACKETS did not mount over the carpet. Anyway this would be a tidy installation and could be done in production easily; fold the inner flap forward, install seat, bolt the front, push the inner flap under the seat.

Harry, the TIM&JG photos are pretty clear that NO bolt holes are cut into the carpet, nor do they show carpet compression from the mounting brackets. Both front and back brackets definitely mount to the floor. Your suggestion is how I did mine 15 years ago, very tidy, just now enjoying making the **** adjustments that are so much winter fun.
