    69 seat hardware finish

Haven't figured out how to resize pics yet so I'll do it the old way for now.

What is the correct finish for the latch on the left? Cad?

The latch in the middle has a whitish-grey color to it but if you flip it over it's black like a black oxide so what is the proper finish for this?

last question is about the round rubber bumper. All my cataloges list this as an oval bumper but clearly it is round. Does anyone know where I could find the correct round bumper? Should the round washer under it be there or was that part of the seat shim kit?

    Thanks.

    Greg-----

Most 1969's did use the ROUND lower seat bumper and NOT the "oblong" version. I don't know of a source for the round bumpers (at least, I don't know of a source that has them for sale). These bumpers were GM #3954505 and they were discontinued in July, 1983. They were not manufactured of rubber but, rather, some sort of highly resilient, flexible plastic. The bumper did have a washer under it and, usually, a washer-like ****er beneath that.

The upper seat catch was either natural steel or had a light phosphate coating. I've not seen any that were cadmium or zinc finished, but it's possible that was an alternate finish.

The lower catch was PAINTED. It was painted with a metallic silver paint very similar or, perhaps, identical to the paint used on rally wheels. This same paint was used for the rectangular ****ers found in the cloth bag and used to raise the catch, if required, to adjust the seat back.

      Thanks Joe.

You know I saw that metalic paint on the lower catch but I though that that was something that I sprayed on way back when. That should be easy enough to redo.

The upper latch I'll do with a black phosphate then. I was thinking it was black oxide because I can't see any of the oxide sparkles but maybe they have worn off. I have no idea what the whitish-grey colored stuff is but both seats have it.

The round bumper is going to be fun I see. For what it's worth though mine feel like old hard rubber...not unlike a stiff tire. The UPPER one however is made of a hard plastic.
