Both double astericks were my own construction. The first was my effort to keep the Board G-rated. The second is the old FORTRAN symbol for "to the power of...".

Someone asks a simple question over there, you post an acceptable solution to his problem, and it is like the post never appeared. Some of the technical recommendations are scary.

The moron/savant ratio over there is at least 100:1, so any input by the savants is drowned out by the morons.

Over here we've got plenty of savants and most members recognize who knows their stuff in the various knowledge areas.

The morons that drop by usually don't hang around very long because they are drowned out by the savants.

There was a separate general discussion section here a few years ago, but it got out of hand and was eliminated. I don't miss it, and a number of others share this opinion.

If you want to talk trash, barroom brawl, or play romper room with a bunch of other supposed adults who have regressed back to the third grade, there are plenty of places on the Web to do that sort of thing including some other Corvette oriented Web sites.

Thank God, not here. This is the only Internet "chat room" I participate in anymore.

There's a time and a place for everything, and those who know me understand that I enjoy occasional levity as much as anyone else, but when seemingly every thread degrades into a pi**ing contest..., and then there are the "scary" technical reponses that Dick referred to (and I'll add outright factual errors) that are rarely rebuted by anyone knowledgable.

I tend to agree with Duke. Like many others here, I read and occasionally post on this board as well as VH, CF, and vary occasionally CAC. I look at this forum as being that place for true originality posts and I love it for that. When I want to read or write a joke, or imagine what headers might do for my performance, I just go over to CF. If I want to read about good rueben recipies, I go over to VH. My mother used to say "Everything has a place, and everything in its place."

I agree & that was my premise. If they would separate the discussion forums the people only interested in technical issues would not have to wade through this post. People that want to chat about other thing would have a site . I think most of the problem with the CF site is the custom crowd's disdain for NCRS. I assume we will not have that here. A lot of members were upset including me about NCRS'S relation with BG. I think that sort of discussion is appropriate on this site. THANKS

I agree, this forum format has the capacity for many different topic categories. It's the same format as many others, e.g., the Subie site I visit which has umpteen different topic categories.

Well, at least on the TDB members don't post just to increase their "star" count. Also, I note that posts herein exhibit better grammar, spelling (for the most part), and syntax.
