What is the correct part numbers for a 1968 L36 Smog Pump Diverter Valve? Also, will a 1969 up Dirverter Valve function and look the same as the correct 1968 Diverter Valve?

The 1968 L-36 diverter valve was GM #7028296 (stamped 28296) with ink stamped broadcast code "DC". This valve was also used for 1969 L-88/ZL-1.

The 69 and 71 big block diverter valve (except 1969 L-88/ZL-1), GM #7029298, is similar in configuration to the 68 valve, but it's not the same and could be discerned by "the informed". It would be a functional replacement for the 1968 valve, though (but not vice-versa). No matter, though, as the 1969 and 1971 valve is equally sought after, equally difficult to find, and equally expensive.
