Correct finish for 4 center bolts for rear spring?

What is the correct finish for the 4 center bolts that hold the rear spring (and the related plate) up to the rear end for a 71?

I believe the 4 bolts were Black Oxide or a similar finish on my 71.

      Same here.
Dull, flat black if I recall from ones I've seen. Not at home right now to check my NOS ones.

Thanks guys. I thought that was the case but I was not sure. I was not fiding any evidence of zinc.

My notes show them as black phosphate.

Give your NOS bolts the "sunlight test" and confirm, Patrick...I may have been inexperienced enough to see black phosphate in every fastener when I wrote those notes.

The condition on mine was such that I thought "black oxide", but it certainly could have been phosphate as Chuck suggests. There's not much of that bolt that's not out in the elements. Maryland was still using a combination of salt and sand on the roads back then. The dog legs looked like they had been sandblasted every spring.

                  Alan-----

The original bolts were black phosphate-finished. The "black" varies from almost black to a medium gray on most black phosphate-finished parts. Black oxide is a completely different finish----much "blacker" and smoother. It was never used for these bolts.
