    C3 1971 Original Shocks?

    How can I tell if the shocks on my 71 are original? They have the blueish gray color. The lower half has a few numbers and "Made in America". What would the numbers be from them? The words TOP and BOTTOM are also on them. I was refinishing my tub straps and started to notice.

      My 71, #6589, rear shocks are marked:
      PLIACELL
      192869 227 70 (arrow) BOTTOM (arrow)
      DELCO PRODUCTS DAYTON OHIO USA

          All have delco Remy "Pliacell" and below a Julian Date code ; Day of the year(1-365) plus 2 digit year(70 or 71)
