    67 window crank knob

    Dear members,

Kinda bummed, just got my piece from eBay and the knob is painted instead of correct color rubber knob!!! I guess the pictures didn't do it justice or I should've asked more questions before bidding!

Anyhow, does anyone make correct rubber, knobs for the handles? I see them in the catalogs. My crank handle say "5719477" on the back and the bottom of the knob has "S11B". The knob seems to be correctly peened onto the handle with a rivet. The rubber knob has three lines or "steps" on the side and many circles on the top, facing the passenger.

    Thanks!

Original knobs have a step down instead of taper like service replacements that is the most important feature and only found on factory knobs. I'd also ask the seller for your money back you should not have to asked is it painted BS.

        Hi Justin:

What color are you looking for? There is a pretty good reproduction available for the handle with a black knob, but only black.

The repops have the right taper? I'll wait till the new board to post the picture of the correct knob.

Let me guess, there's a naughty word filter, and it's blocked the word k.n.o.b.?

                    Shall we try it?

So far we have k-n-o-b or knob

                    and

                    s-p-a-c-e or ****e.

                    will they get blocked?

                      Nope.
Apparently you can still have knobs. Just no spa(y)ces.

I think that word block list needs editing...

                        Hi Kevin:

Some time ago I found a source for a repro that I thought looked pretty good, but it was only available with a black knob. I can dig one out and try taking a photo if you are interested.

                          Justin,

Sure but I found my picture, you can see the taper on the inside of the knob, don't know of any reproduction that has it. Check your picture if it's the same you've found a correct source.

                            Hi Kevin:

I'm having some difficulty attaching photos, but here are the photobucket URLs for three photos that compare an original 67 window crank with a $12 reproduction from rickscamaros.com, part number IN-118:

                            http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/jpr3/Windowcrankcomparisonfront.jpg

                            http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/jpr3/Windowcrankcomparisonback.jpg

                            http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b281/jpr3/Windowcrankcomparisonside.jpg

I think that the knob and the front of the repro handle are very good, although there are some differences on the back side. I think a judge would need to use a mirror to detect this repro.
