The cable from my trans to the steering column does not completely push up the column lever into the unlock position. After I put it in reverse I am able to push it up with very little effort and then I am able to get the key out of the ignition (I took apart the steering column and replaced the lock cylinder twice before I figured out it was the locking mechanism). I know you can make a small adhjustment in the bracket. My question is what happens if the cable still does not push the lever up high enough so I can remove the key (I know you can just disconnect it or cut the cable but I don't want to do that). Any other suggestion. There seems to be alot of slop in the area where the cable connects to the trans--but I don't know how much movement is normal there. The cable looks good-no rust and slides easily. Thanks

Paul check on the side cover of your Trans there should be a small "J" shaped bracket top forward bolt that keeps the cable in alignment if is missing the cable moves side to side and change the distance the cable moves. Other then that I dont remember any adjustments for the interlock cable. Paul- Top
