Unless Paragon has changed there design there lid will not pass. The outer lip is wrong. Your better off with your original.

I will probably send my re-chromed original lid off to Richard. If the point deduction for having too thick of chrome is only 1 or 2 points, I will not be too concerned about it for my car.

I would much rather have the original on my car than a repro even if it costs me a point or two. I also have another lid from a 69 350-350 car that I can try to have chromed flash-style if I decide later on that my original is not adequate.

I am sure that I have some bigger point items to focus on first.

I have the original on my 63, has a dent and some chrome is missing. Lost 1 point at the national on condition.

            Hi Mike:

I have heard about the "lip difference" but have never been able to verify it. Paragon uses the original GM tool to make their 66-69 round lid, so one would not expect a difference. I have a Paragon lid and a couple original lids, and I can not find any meaningful difference between the lip on the Paragon lid and the lip on the originals.

Joe, is their a weight difference? Original vs. repro?

                    Hi Harry:

I don't have an easy way to weigh the lids precicely, but there is no apparent difference if I just hold one or the other in my hand.

I compared the weight of my original to a repro from LIC. Appearance wise they are identical but the original weighs about 2 to 3 ounces more.

                            Hi Harry:

Are you talking about a 63 lid for your car? All of my comments have been in relation to the 66-69 round lid as used on my 67.

I don't have a suitable scale to measure the weights of the lids I have on hand, but maybe I can borrow a scale to compare them.
