Did anyone catch the one hour special on National Geo.? Building the new Z-07 from frame to test track. It maybe a repeat but the first time I saw it. Dale

Re: Z-06 build at BG, Dana TN, and Wixom
One of the glaring bloopers was that remark about the brake rotors. I'm not Z06 literate, so I didn't notice any others.
I think it went something like this...brake rotors are "drilled and vented to let the exhaust gases out of the engine compartment"?! Hunnnnh??!!...Tying to critically assess that one made me miss the next minute of a fast-moving presentation.
This probably betrays the confusion of the automotive illiterate trying to absorb everything GM was throwing at them...a conjunction of info about the brake rotors and the fender side vents, perhaps?!.

Re: Z-06 build at BG, Dana TN, and Wixom
It is the Dana plant in Tenn. I missed what town it is in (if they said). They make the aluminum space frame for the Z06. The steel space frames are made in Bowling Green, but the aluminum ones come from -- I think they said 60 some odd miles to the east in Tennessee. Of course I think that geography may not make sense, but the point is the aluminum frame is assembled elsewhere in a Dana plant. They had some nice shots of that process.
There is a lot of that video that is of places (Dana plant, body shop, Wixom Engine Assembly) not normally open to the public. Nice to see all that without having to travel all around the Midwest.Terry- Top
