Phil & Donald -- I think there was a variety of suppliers over the early BB years. Here's 3 that I have. Middle one is the longest of the 3 lengths used. When you say "dished" do you mean recessed (like the ones on either end ? I have the R marking (no recess) on shorter bolts as well. Also have some with the cross & NO markings in the 4 quadrants.

The one on the right has to be a Canuck special, in honor of the greatest hockey team ever -- Les Canadiens de Montreal !

Am not taking the valve covers off to see what I used there, so these loose headbolts could be from a Jan '68 production car.

the 8 short ones look like the one on the left but they have an M in the corner all the long bolts look like the middle one but with a small c in the corner ... these are what i removed .. but i also have a bunch of dished with a A, M, and blank in the corner ... even have a bunch with what looks like a dog bone in the corner so what should i use that would make the judges happy ... thanks don

                Dog-Bone bolts

Donald -- I should have also added that I have short ones (on the car) with an "O" in one of the quadrants.

About those dog-bone bolts (I have many loose ones -- all long). That's the symbol of STELCO (Steel Company of Canada), which I just suspected were replacements because I live up there. Maybe others can say if they were a supplier to the assembly line in the '65-68 era.

Anyway; the judges can only see the short (external) ones. This stuff is not mentioned in the '65 TIM&JG, but you can be sure the judges are expecting certain styles.

Whew --- back on the new site after some hiccups

Donald -- I don't know enough about BB headbolts to suggest that the visible short bolts should have the "M" marking or not.

                        Hopefully others will respond.
