    AO SMITH BIG BLOCKS

I was told that no 65-67 Corvette with a AO SMITH body was mated to a BB motor is that true. I know that they were not used for side exaust cars. I am looking at a early 66 425 HP Coerette that has a AO SMITH BODY. THANKS

    Ken,

1965-66 Corvettes with BBC were manufactured using Smith bodies.

I have heard that no 1967, Smith, BBC Corvettes exist. I am not certain of that, though.

If 1965-66 BBC cars were made with Smith bodies, then I can't think of a reason why not '67's.

AOS built BBs in 65 and 66, just not 67.

The reason 67s were built in STL was due to quality control issues with the paint on the stinger hood.

I agree. Now that you said that I remember that it was only the 67 427'S because of the hood stripes. I am getting old so I only remember half of what I knew & not much of what I remembered. THANKS

Didn't Noland Adams state that AOS did produce some 67 BB cars but without the hood stripe.

I beleave these were small block cars with the BB hood because something happed to the AO Smith hood mold & they used some SL BB hoods without stripes to keep the line moving. At least that's what my gradpa told me in a bar so I know it's true.

Its been 6 months and this myth raised its ugly head again. Harder to get rid of than the Loch Ness Monster.
