Wayne - Now that you have given us the real skinny on that unique feature, we'll have to take a deduct on condition, but I think it could be original (a Bubba original not St. Louis but nevertheless) so full credit Pete

        Re: 63 A/C battery access

So it's access from the wheel house and not covering the batery from the engine bay. I was thinking you open the hood, remove this cover and then find the battery, but that's not it, maybe I just didn't look close enough...
        Thanks all!!!

                Wayne,

What does the foam seal look like. soft rubber, hard rubber, dense foam soft foam Etc etc?

I also would be interested in purchasing your repair piece .Even though my access panel doesn't have a wear through hole, It seems like a great piece of history and I wouldn't mind owning it !!!

I would say the seal is soft foam like the C1 coul vent seal.

                        Close-up of foam seal

Zoom in further to see just how fine-celled it is. This is viewed from the tire side, and the muddy rectangle in the lower right hand corner is the part that is exposed when installed.
