I have a 78 with CB option. Of course the antenna is defective so I bought the GM replacement GM# 12355706. This antenna will need some engineering to work. The antenna cable from the car is too big for the jack on the new antenna. The antenna came with a new splitter. I pulled the carpet back to reveal the original splitter and found the cables to be permanent mount. That is no unscrewing to remove. The new cables will not go all the way to the radio unit so now what am I to do. I hope someone has an answer to my problem. Thanks Rodney

Re: 78 CB Antenna
Rodney------
You have the correct current GM replacement antenna. However, this is the second supercessive part number. In general with these replacement antennas, the more supercessive part numbers, the more "generic" they become. I think that's the root of your problem.
Based upon what you describe, it sounds to me like you need an adapter cable that will interface between the new antenna's lead and the car's existing antenna cable. Sometimes, the replacement antennas will be supplied with such a cable. Otherwise, you may have to make one up or have a radio shop make one up.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Rodney:
My 78 picked up in 93 had an aftermarket CB. I removed it along with the cable. Your welcome to it if you're interested and I can find it. As I recall, the antenna and CB cables run parallel to the antenna base. Drop me an email note if interested.Tom Russo
