C3 Rear end & Manual trans fluid

    Hey guys,

I was planning to change the tranny and differential fluid and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the Moroso High Performance lube. I do drive the vehicle as often as possible but never at racing conditions. I just thought this would be a situation where an advanced product could be used without notice. I figured you guys could steer me in the right direction before I make a mistake. Thanks,

    Mike

Personally I do not see any benefit from a special lubricant in a street vehicle. I do use synthetic GL 5 for my differentials, but mainly because I have it for a vehicle that I used to own and it needed all the help on gear life due to the gross overloading that it endured constantly. Just follow the recommendations in the owners manual and use a quality products.

Re: Cold Weather Rear end & Manual trans fluid

During these cold winter months can the differential fluid be changed. My car is in a garage at and the temperature is about 40-45*. Is this a something that would best be done when the weather gets warmer?

            Ralph,

If your comfortable working at 40-45 degrees you certainly can do this. With a warmer ambient temp or the fluid warmed from driving you will get a faster drain but just give it more time. If you have an infrared or halogen light you could warm the case with it which in turn will warm the fluid.
