"NOS" from GM

Every so often I see a reference on this board about certain "old" parts that are still available from GM. The latest that comes to mind is the C2 & C3 lower control arm bump stops. I have also heard of certain other items that are still available including some trim pieces so I took a list down to my local Chevy dealer to see what was still available. They say nothing on my list is available any more even though I know that one item is, the rear CORVETTE letters for 69 and the chrome grill pieces. Was my guy just not trying or does GM is the US have a different supply than GM of Canada?

Is there a web site that I could use to run numbers from my old parts book so that I don't waste the parts guy's time?

Those of you that often mention that this or that part is still available...how do you find this info out?

Greg,

You could go to www.partsvoice.com and register, then put in the part number you are searching for, it will do a search for that part number with most all GM dealers. Works for other car brands also.

I am sure you will find as I have there are very few parts men anymore, most have retired or died off.The chevy parts people in my area are just plain lazy.Ask one of them to look for something that is not in the computer and they don't ahve it. They may in fact have a 100 on the shelve but don't know what they are.. They don't know what a parts catalog is or care to learn for the most part!!
