63 PG Safety Switch Boss....Bubba got it!

I've located a neutral safety switch for the wife's 63 coupe and scoped out the mounting. As you can see the mounting boss has been hacksawed off. It looks like I'll need to remove the tranny and get it welded with a new piece. Oh boy, I now have an excuse to get shipwrights disease and tear everything apart.:-)

Any other suggestions for a repair to mount the switch? Broken case with solid boss donations welcome.

    Thanks,
    Rich Mozzetta #13499

I had Jerry MacNeish restore my carb and I noticed on his website that he does some wonderful work with aluminum repair. I have no experience with his aluminum work but his reputation is excellent.

        Rich,

How about considering a fabricated mount that bolts on?
It should not be too hard to make, does not require removing the transmission and you can do it yourself. I call it "working in blacksmith mode".

Hmmmm, I was thinking of something like that but it's be pretty hard to drill & tap up in there. I will consider it if I get it up on a lift and test the clearances.
            Thanks,
            Rich

I was thinking of using an existing bolt to hole it.
