C2 '65 L75 Carb Install

I'm replacing the incorrect AFB (3721 SA) with the correct, and restored, 3721 SB carb. Old carb had lock washers on the mounting studs. Is this correct or no lock washers? Also, is there a specified torque value (in"/lbs.) for the hold-down nuts?

I don't think there were originally any lock washers on the carb studs. The torque values I've always heard were around 144 inch lbs. or around 12 ft. lbs. but this is subject to correction.

Forgot to add that page 262 of Noland's book has 2 pix of the engine compartment of a base engine car, no lock washers visible.

certain there were no lock washers , just the four hex nuts. mike

Jack, It appears that old GM didn't think much of lock washers. Musta slowed the line down. So many times in the mid years-especially the fuel cars no locks were used. That is typically spelled out in our manuals. Another rule of thumb that you can throw out the window is this. Aluminum no lock washers. Steel-lock washers. WRONG. I don't know who started that one years ago. Probably old DW. Check the aims also. JD
