    Mike,
You can spend big bucks and get a reproduction Group 27 battery from Jim's Battery or you can just buy a modern Delco Group 27 battery and save a bunch of money and have minimal point deductions. Points vs dollars...your choice.

Mike, for what it's worth, I was with a 400 point judge and I was about to give no deduct for what appeared to me to be so good a repro that I couldn't tell the difference from orig. He then pointed out several subtle tell-tales that it was a repro and the owner ended up loosing more points than if it were an AC Delco modern replacement installed.

        Bill,

We have a standard deduct for Batteries. A modern Delco does not score higher than a Reproduction R59 or Tar Top battery. I don't know who that 400 level judge was, but he should know when to use a standard deduct chart. He did not judge that reproduction battery fairly if he scored it lower than what is in the Standard Deduct Chart.

That being said, the dollars to points loss for a Modern Delco is well worth the savings. Use your dollars wisely.
