1970 Interior Door Panels

Considering replacing my original interior door panels. The panels I looked at 20 years ago had abs backing and didn't fit worth a damn. Was wondering if they had improved with time?

At one point Al Knock had a supply of fiberboard 'cards' for door panels.
Maybe still has some?
How much??? Probably a lot!
I think you need to be careful with the detail of the embossing of vinyl skin, too.

Thanks, Alan. I remembered that also. I checked with them last week and they didn't have any for my 1970 green interior. I was mostly wondering if anybody had used the abs plastic backing recently.

My experience with AK ABS panels is they don't fit- not even close. If your original backings are in decent shape ask if they will reskin them. That's what I did and they fit better. However as of a couple of years ago, overall workmanship is lacking.

I also know from experience that material and installation quality of seat covers by Top Flight/AAC is superior to AK. You might ask around about their panels.

I'll do as suggested with AK. Will check with Top Flight/AAC. Thanks for the suggestions. It's a shame that the manufactures can't get their act together even after all these years.
