    Factory connector?

I’m currently working on my ‘59 and it had a connector on the top left hand side of the tire housing cover, it looks factory since it has the red trunk paint on it, can anyone tell me what this is or was this added at one time?

Curt, as an audio guy, I recognize that connector as an Amphenol balanced microphone connector. I would be surprised if that was factory installed.

Can you trace where it runs to in the wiring harness?

That red paint is certainly not original to the engine so it's "vestiges" on the connector imply nothing as far as originality of the connector to the car.

Thanks for the responses! I have just attached a picture of this connector installed before restoration and you can clearly see how the paint matches the surrounding area which was before restoration and the trunk compartment had original paint including the green grease pencil marks indicating the car color , the trunk is red as in the picture, I will look at the original wiring harness to see if there was ever a splice in it, it sure looks factory, but doesn't make much sense.
