    '57 shield questions

My '57 VIN 4906 was 15 years old when I bought it . I have several questions about exhaust heat shields and ignition shielding. 1. These are called supports on AIM 6-3. What was the original finish? Can you buy exact replacements anywhere? They take grommets per AIM 6-3. where can I find those, PN 3707952? 2. Then a question about radio and ignition shielding: Other than the repro FIIMG_0293.jpgtop cover which doesn't match the cut-outs sketched in the Judging Guide (which you can't get now anyway) what else of the repro shielding won't match original parts? Thanks, folks, Frank

    Frank,

Plug wire heat shields finish is spec'd in the Judging Manual; "A lower engine cadmium plated crescent-shaped wire routing support mounts to the engine block on each side and shields the two forward spark plug wires from exhaust manifold heat."

Give Corvette Central a call and ask what's included with their Spark Plug Heat Shield Set part # 471146

"A lower engine cadmium plated" Agree with Gary. Mine purchased Nov 1964 and always stored inside, a December '56 assembled car (12XX) with November engine, were cad plated. Steve
