    Fuel Sending Unit Restoration Shops?

I have a very nasty sending unit from a 69 that I am looking into having restored. Any recommendations for places you have used for that? I called these guys and they seem nice but $$ is a lot more than I thought it would be.

I had this group rebuild the original fuel sending unit from our 66 three years ago and it's still performing well.

However, I also thought the cost of this service was larger than I might have guessed, but I'm providing this as another option and for price comparison. Good luck.

      Ed,

Do you have any photos showing the pre and post restored unit looks like? Especially the external side that the judges can see? Was the cost more or less than $400?

Thanks Ed. Sent them some pics.

Instrument Services quoted just shy of $400.

          Gary,

Unfortunately I don't have any photos of my restored unit as the exterior finish was "acceptable" for my use. IIRC, cost was in the low $200's w/return shipping.

When did you have it done? Despite their email being sendingunitguy@gmail.com....they responded to me that they no longer do them!

Keith - - They rebuilt my failed sending unit ~ 3 years ago. If they said they no longer rebuild them, it would appear they need to update their webpage!! Hopefully someone else will jump in with some additional vendor recommendations.

Tristar told me they were no longer accepting work and referred me to Instrument Services.
FWIW, Instrument Services currently has my sending unit for repair.
Their estimate is $325 with no cosmetic work, but it will function they say.
Bob's speedometer was considerably (hundreds) more.
I await the repaired item with eager anticipation.
                  Regards,
                  Brian McIntyre

Tri Star did a spare for me 3 years ago . It took 5 months and cost $250. Haven’t used it yet but I’m confident it will work. Seems that restoring them has become areal challenge.

                      Keith,
I used Bob’s Speedometer for a couple units for my C2. You can look at my TDB posts regarding my experience. Expensive and I felt like I had to help him through the process. Make sure he bench tests the unit so it reads correctly in the car. When all was said and done I was satisfied but it was quite the experience.
