    Delco battery for 63

Crazy confusion on websites about a proper fit battery. I know it should be a group 24. Does anyone know a correct part number for a battery that fits, will take the fake tar top cover and that you don't have to shave the sides to get it to fit prpoerly with the tie down/ Thanks for any direction.

After no responses and a lot of research, a battery that works is the ACDelco 24S Silver. This gives you judging points since it is Delco, the fake tar top fits it as well the correct battery shield and tie down, all without chopping of the battery case. It still has a handle built into the top with no interference.

The Delco 24S may have certain fitment advantages. However, I don't think these configuration differences are related to any intent to improve fitment for certain applications. I suspect it's related to the particular manufacturing source tooling differences. Also, keep in mind that the 24S is an 18 month battery, the "bottom of the barrel" as far as ACDelco batteries go.

Would I purchase this battery for the reasons you mentioned? Not a chance!

        Bob,

For years the best battery was the 24PG. That was the Gold series with the best warranty. I believe it is now a 24GHR that works. The PG is discontinued. We use these all the time in the 63-66 Restorations.

        Good luck.

These battery prices are getting ridiculous. Not sure why someone doesn't pick up on the classic car marketI guess Delco makes it difficult through licensing. The battery itself can't be that difficult
