I am restoring my 1965 convertible and have reconditioned the doors (cleaned, lubed, chromed , replaced rubber, whiskers, etc). The passenger door is ok but the driver side door has a problem. When one lowers the window a noise can be heard. at about 3/4" before the stop. The noise sounds like it is hitting something. I have checked all that I can see and found no obstructions. Any ideas on what could be causing the noise?

John,
Is the screw & hole that secures the lower end of the rear channel run in good shape? The screw is item 19 at the lower right in this sketch from the AIM. That screw hole in the driver’s side door on my ‘66 had enlarged so much that the screw head had nothing to butt up against and it just pulled thru. The light colored fiberglass repair in progress in my second photo shows you how large the hole had become. If the rear vertical run is not secured at the bottom it can flop around and make a clunking noise.
Also, there is a corresponding screw at the bottom of the front vertical run that is only accessible with the door panel removed. I’d check both screws and visualize the window going up and down with the door panel removed.
