C8 Z06 recall for fire issue, and dealers actions

It is being reported on some Corvette sites that since there is a recall on the C8 Z06, and no part available to fix it yet, that the dealers are required to keep your Z06 if it comes into their shop for anything, and not return it to you until a fix is available. One dealer is reported to be telling owners not to bring theirs in for anything unless it is an emergency. Has anyone else heard this?

Just to add to the information:
I have not received any notice of any type from Chevrolet.

While I didn't attend all the technical sessions at the Museum last week , I heard nothing about this issue. Now I wish I had asked, but I doubt there would be any more information than Michael J. posted above.

I have not received any letter in the mail, as I usually get for other recalls in my Ford vehicles. I did get a notice on my cell phone from the My Chevrolet app about it, and the details are in the "recalls" section in that app. It also says you will be contacted when the fix, a sleeve they put in, will be available. But I have no idea how that will come. Maybe also in the My Chevrolet app?

I’ll ask my dealer as I have one on order.

I found it on the My Chevrolet app, but I had to drill down through the HELP section to find it. If Chevrolet is relying on this for notification, it is woefully inadequate. The internet worked better for me in this case.

Thanks Michael J. for the prompt to make me look.

That will be interesting, some are saying dealers are not being allowed to sell used C8 Z06s while this recall is pending. I do wonder about taking delivery of a new one if the fix is not available.

You're welcome, and I agree Terry, a very poor way to communicate to owners.

My Z06 is currently at the dealer for a peeling dash item. Leather coming unglued. At the time of contact to discuss the part being received we talked about the fire issue. Nothing was said about keeping my car from me. All I was told was to "Not try to top off after the pump trigger released"! The overflow and splash is the cause of the fire possibility. Also, YES, they currently have a fix designed but no part to install yet.

Now, will my wife drive in the car until it's fixed, possibly not. Although, once it's filled with fuel there is no additional possibility of a fire.
