C6 Check Engine Light

Just an FYI for an easy fix. Have a good code reader.

Went to take the 2006 C6 to dinner last night. Backed it out and all was fine. 30 minutes later when starting a check engine light.

This morning I found codes P0302 and P0300. 302 = cylinder 2 misfire, 300 = multiple misfire failures.

I changed the coil and the failure remained. Put the original coil back in, replaced the plug and the plug wire. Problem gone. It's not always the coil.

The original plug smelled of gas, so it must have been the plug wire that failed.

before buying new coils its always a good idea to swap them to anther cylinder to see if the problem follows the part or stays on the same cylinder

I am glad to see some people have "check engine" light problems they can fix, unlike mine, where a squirrel makes a nest on the intake manifold of my Bronco Raptor and chews up $800 of wiring.........

My '06 Silverado CEL came on when traveling to help a buddy work on his '62 years ago. Later, I ran a scan and the code pointed to the Fuel canister emissions system. I brought it to a friend's repair shop.

He found the problem. The hard plastic vacuum line from engine to canister valve failed. It took him a while, but he found a small hole in the pipe along the frame, with teeth marks from a squirrel.

Apparently, the plastic pipe was made with soybean extract, a delicacy for yard critters.

Same problems with some automotive wiring. Here.

I've seen some reference to insurance claims covering rodent damaged wiring repairs.
