    1966 AC hose

I have discovered a pin hole leak in my Compressor muffler. I have purchased a new muffler and the hoses that go with it .

The thing is that no one produces the correct printing on the AC hose anymore .

So my question is how do I get the new hose to look like the original one? new hose.jpg

I've seen two solution for this.
    • While judging an A/C C2, the owner did an excellent job of painting the hoses with a small brush. He must have been an artist as it looked pretty good but was detectable. Not an expensive solution.
    • Since the system will be open you will need to vacate it anyway to remove moisture. Cut a section of the house out that contains all the characters you will need. Plug the two open ends left in the system. A wine cork or a rubber cork with a clamp to keep additional moisture out. Take the hose section to Staples or another shop that makes ink stamps and have a few made to capture all the characters you need. Also match the ink color. when you get the hose, stamps and ink stamp away. This is more expensive solution, but a cleaner more accurate look. After installation just the follow normal charging process.

        Thanks Harry,

You are correct, that man is an artist. maybe I should just send the hose to him !

Getting A stamp made makes sense, but creates a few more questions! Such as ' Ink Or paint, which will last longer and hold up better? What kind of ink or paint ? what is the best way to prep the hose , soap and water or something stronger ? I am hoping to reap the benefit of all those who have gone before me and skip thru all the trials and errors .

Originally they were INK stamped. Paint should be ok. Clean the hoses with Lacquer Thinner. You need to put a wood dowel stick inside each hose to keep them straight. Also take some copper pipe and cut it in half to lay the hose in and mark the spacing of each character on the copper piper to guide with the ink stamping.

I can put you in touch with the member that did my 63 hoses.
