    Vendor recommendations for carpet kit

I've seen varying data from different sources for carpet kits.

One specifies transmission and the other doesn't.

One has a kit for a specific year. The other has multi-year range.

Who sells the best kit for a 70 coupe and 4 speed?

Also, has anyone had any problems with the seat frame studs not extending through the floor pan enough if adding insulation like Dynamat?

I researched Al Knoch, Romeo Engineering and ACC for my 68 and finally decided on ACC. They offer specific sets for automatic or standard and year specific. The only hit I took during judging was the heal pad did not have the "IMCO" logo. I purchased through Top Flight Auto as they had a better price than going direct with ACC. https://www.topflightautomotive.com/...pans-hardware/

      Thanks, Anthony.

Does anyone else have recommendations for vendor to purchase a carpet kit from?

Al Knoch will rotate the front carpet such that the rows of weaving will line up correctly, same as the factory did it. However, you need to call to ask about it. I think that Mid America might do this as well.
If you still have your original heel pad, and dimmer pad if applicable, then send them in to be used on the new carpet.

If you have a non-black carpet, ask for a color sample. Some of the blues are way off.

          Thanks, Patrick.

I notice that Al Knoch doesn't have the padding. Was padding used in assembly at the factory?

The short answer is yes, but it differs from what is commonly available.

Most carpet vendors glue some jute to the carpet, and its different than the original in shape and material. You can also buy it separately.
Originally the jute had a backing (rubber-ish). I thought that someone had reproduced that, but don't recall who it was.
Google might assist in tracking it down. Edit - Corvette Central MIGHT have it, but it appears their site is down as i type this reply.
Under the front carpets is where the backing matters, as judges can often see a carpet edge and know what you have installed.
When we changed the carpet in my friend's 70 many years ago I kept the jute and backing specifically to use for reference.

This thread shows you an example:
