    Body mounts for '66.

I have set the body back on my 66 convertible chassis this week, which I removed a little less than a year ago. I am certain this body has never been off the frame before. When removing the body I bagged the cushions, shims, etc from each position and bagged them individually and marked them. The position at the front of the cowl, which was marked number 1 in the new body mount kit did not have a rubber cushion, only the solid aluminum spacer and shims, bolts, etc. The bags containing the left and right #1 position that I removed did not contain a rubber cushion. I was looking in the assembly manual for what goes UNDER the mount on the frame before the nut, since there was nothing in that bag on the new kit and also nothing in the bags of removed parts and the assembly manual shows a rubber cushion on top and the aluminum spacer under the frame mount just as the last one on each side AFTER the rear tires. I don't have another '66 but looked at one of my '67's that has also never been off the frame either and it too has solid aluminum in this position with only a flat washer, lock washer and nut underneath. So the question is, was this a running change during the '66 production run that carried over into '67 OR did all '66's have an aluminum spacer on the top side in that position? I have 2 '65 coupes also that haven't ever been apart and at a glance due to hard to get at in storage due to being crowded they appear to have rubber cushions in that position.(And if somebody tells me to check my judging manual I'm going to put a curse on them. I have 14 Corvettes 1970 and older and don't have a judging manual on all of the years)

Harris - from my experience working on the mid-years(mostly 66's and 67's), the coupes have a rubber spacer in the firewall frame mounts and the convertibles have a solid spacer. Maybe someone else can chime in because I am not an enthusiast, not a judge.
