throttle cable breakage on the ASR on a 95 Corvette

I saw a video online where a guy with a 95 Corvette like mine floored his car from a dead stop on dry pavement and the ASR unit broke the
throttle cable from the unit to the throttle body. How common is this problem and does it only happen when accelerating hard
from a dead stop? I noticed online that used Corvette parts vendors are selling the upper cable from the ASR to the throttle body
for 300.00 and the cable from the pedal to the ASR for 24.00, so I assume it is always the throttle body cable that breaks? The guy
in the video claimed that when the ASR kicks in it "eats" the throttle cable. He recommended leaving the ASR turned off when driving to prevent this from happening. Has anybody else experienced this problem on this forum?

Yes that ASR is kinda quirky. When ASR engages, you get a "push back" on your foot throttle. First time it happened on my 1995, it was a WTH is going on moment. Never had a car physically "talk back" to me before.

I never had any problems. ASR only engages with wheel spin/slip. With me, sand on pavement - stopped, then turning a corner.

I'd expect your poster's "eats" throttle cable" comment results from disregarding ASR's response - i.e. keeping pedal to the metal when ASR is telling you to back off. That cable has to go somewhere.

Don't disregard when machine tries to tell you something - you might just listen.
